Greed, God and Guts

The Occupy movement exploded on the scene because people are fed up with corruption in politics, corporations and government. What people haven't realized is, corruption begins at home and within each of us and then rises up. The meaning of corruption is impairment of integrity, virtue, or moral principles. Inducement to wrong by improper or unlawful means (as bribery). Corruption is, not being honest. If people were honest life would be full of joy, happiness and love. But for most people, life is full abuse and darkness.

As I read the Occupy declaration of grievances, I knew this was a movement for me. I know personally about the corrupt judicial system. I have experienced first hand, what can happen to your life when you trust someone you shouldn't. I learned the hard way people lie, even your own family and friends. Again I trusted people who claim they are against corruption, to be just as corrupt as those in congress. It is easy to talk about how corrupt others are, but what about yourself? Do you walk your talk?

Greed is an excessive desire to acquire or possess more than what one needs or deserves, especially with respect to material wealth. Corporations are not the only ones, who are greedy. People are greedy when they are envious, jealous or need to possess others, for any reason. The saying 'if it doesn't kill you, it will make you stronger,' is a greedy saying when people think something is ok to happen to you, but they wouldn't want it to happen in their life.

There are more than enough resources in the world to provide food, clothing and shelter to all. Why do we still have people living on the streets? Because of greedy people concerned about how many women they can date in a week, how many cars they can pile in their garage, how many homes they can own, how many sports games can they watch, how many beers can they drink, how many times can they go to church and act godly. All while people suffer in the streets on cold dark nights, with no bathrooms, showers or food.

God is the name of a divine being for some people. After at least 10 years of utter insanity and abuse, I don't and will Never believe in god. I am an atheist who believes when people start being honest with all, life will get good for all. But if people continue to live in little white lies or big dark lies, life will continue to be ugly. I don't need an instant garbage disposal for my misbehavior. I need to be accountable and responsible for my actions. When people hurt and harm you I don't believe in turning the other cheek. I believe what anonymous says 'We do not forget, We do not forgive, Expect us.'

There are 1,000's of religions in the world, how do you know yours is the right one? With all the churches in America why are there people living on the streets? Especially when some of these mega-churches have pastors and employees living in lavish houses and working in elite buildings? Because they are greedy! Religion is the greatest form of oppression and suppression. If god is all powerful, all knowing, all loving he does not need anything from people. People need to take care of people and not god. Then and only then will our country and world be a better place. God does not need help, people do!

Guts is fortitude and stamina in coping with what alarms, repels or discourages. Most people are followers. They go with the flow. They don't have the balls or guts to stand up to injustice. Injustice comes in many forms and shapes. It starts in the home and spreads out to the community, workplace, country and world. People that have guts, are people that have written books about Monsanto and his MSG problem in the food he sells. People that have confronted church workers that have abused children sexually. People that have confronted the military about abuses and the list goes on.

Guts is not tolerating injustice and doing something about it. It is standing up and speaking out at all cost. When you sit in silence and watch someone suffer you are part of the injustice. If you participate in something to make someone else stronger, how do you know that is the result you will get. Make sure it is ok, to do to your life, before you do it to others, to see how it feels. Guts is being brave, honest and taking the risk of putting your life on the line for the justice of others. Are you silent when injustice prevails or do you have guts?

Life is unfair to many. But it does not have to be that way. Look at your own life and see where greed may lie and unravel it. We were all given a life to live the way we choose. Do not force your beliefs on others. Respect them for being a human being and let them make their choices. If they don't harm you don't worry about what they believe. Silence is the absolute oppressor when injustice is happening. Get some guts to stand up for the people that need your voice. Life is short and many times there is not a second chance.
