They marched in single file line and swooped their first victim a young man a little shorter than I who did not even have a chance to gather his belongings and leave the area. The young man was not resisting at all and was being manhandled by two officers, who where escorting him to the van parked by the west side of the civic center. Then I saw another young man being hauled the same way and he also was not resisting arrest. At this point I made my decision to leave.
As I walked away from the scene, I had feelings of guilt not being able to help my brothers and sisters of this movement. But there was really nothing I could do. I got outside the civic center and made calls to people that have been very active and they headed down in their cars. A Friend and I helped a young man carry somethings to a local hotel where they would be safe. As we sat there for a few moments the front desk man asked us to leave. Exiting the door we saw some of our sisters and brothers marching down 4th street.
It was a morning full of anguish and terror, always to be remembered. The reason we are occupying is not to party and have fun. The real reason is to stand up and speak out against the corrupt corporations, bankers and politicians that have destroyed this country and many of its people. The 1% has no regard for their blatant actions of disrespect and disregard for people. They have so much money it could feed the world time and time again. But they have eyes and ears closed to all the violence of their actions.
They need to be held accountable and responsible for their ugly, viscous lies and violent actions toward people around the world. We are the 99% and we are here standing up for you and your children. We want our system to stop catering to the 1% and start looking out for the 99% who work and labor everyday for the 1%. Don't just watch us on TV or read about us in the news, come and join us and be apart of changing the world one day at a time. It is now or never you decide?
